GreenPilot AI is an early-stage product in active pilot development. This page explains why it exists, who is building it, and what's coming next.
Most cloud optimization tooling is built for large teams. Enterprise FinOps platforms assume you have dedicated cloud economists, sustainability analysts, and DevOps engineers to act on recommendations. The tooling is powerful — and almost entirely out of reach for a company with fewer than 200 people.
European SMEs are the core of the EU economy. They run real AWS workloads, pay real cloud bills, and face real EU governance obligations around data residency, cyber risk, and sustainability reporting. But they don't have the internal tooling — or the team — to manage cloud cost, carbon, and governance systematically.
Native AWS tools like Trusted Advisor and Cost Explorer surface recommendations. They don't help you act on them safely, track what changed, or generate the kind of structured output that a compliance team or finance director can actually use.
GreenPilot AI is built to close that gap. Starting with AWS, focusing on Europe, and designed to be usable by a small team without specialist resources. Read-only to start. Approval-based throughout. Honest about what the product can and cannot do at this stage.
Richard Schmitz is building GreenPilot AI from Lisbon. His background is in AI and machine learning. GreenPilot started from a direct problem: European SMEs running AWS don't have the tooling to manage cloud cost, carbon, and governance without an enterprise-scale team.
Before GreenPilot, Richard worked across technology and applied AI projects. He is based in Lisbon, Portugal, and is building GreenPilot AI as a founder-led product with a focus on EU-first cloud governance and practical automation for SMEs.

GreenPilot is actively onboarding selected European SMEs for free read-only AWS assessments. The pilot produces a structured optimization report covering cost, carbon, and governance.
Azure support is on the roadmap. Advanced governance workflows, expanded carbon reporting, and customer-visible audit logs are in development. Join the waitlist via the assessment form.
Google Cloud Platform support, ML-based optimization (Phase 2), multi-cloud dashboard, and EU-confirmed infrastructure hosting are planned for future phases. Formal legal incorporation is in progress.
Legal status: GreenPilot AI has not yet been formally registered as a legal entity. The responsible person for the website and product is Richard Schmitz, Founder, based in Lisbon, Portugal. See the Legal Notice for full details. The Legal Notice will be updated to include the registered company name and number upon incorporation.
GreenPilot is early-stage and building in public. If you want to work on AWS integration pipelines, optimization engines, or cloud carbon estimation — and care about making it usable for teams without a dedicated DevOps function — get in touch.
