Apply for the GreenPilot AWS Optimization Pilot.

GreenPilot is running a controlled pilot for European SMEs on AWS. The assessment is free, read-only, and produces a structured optimization report covering cloud waste, savings potential, carbon impact, and governance observations.

Free assessment Read-only access 30-day evaluation window No production changes without approval AWS-first

Who the pilot is for

The pilot is open to European SMEs running workloads on AWS. Applications are reviewed individually — onboarding is not automatic.

European SMEs using AWS

Organisations in the EU or EEA running meaningful AWS workloads — EC2, S3, RDS, or managed services — with monthly spend typically above €500.

Teams without a FinOps function

Engineering or operations teams managing AWS without a dedicated FinOps, cloud economics, or sustainability specialist. GreenPilot is built for exactly this situation.

Organisations with EU compliance exposure

Companies that need to understand their cloud footprint for GDPR data residency, NIS2 risk posture, or CSRD sustainability reporting — but lack the tooling to do so systematically.

What the free assessment includes

The pilot starts with a free read-only assessment. No production access is required. No changes are made to your environment.

Cloud waste analysis

Idle instances, oversized compute, unattached storage, and underused managed services — identified by type, region, and estimated monthly cost.

Savings potential estimate

Estimated monthly and annual savings ranked by impact and implementation effort. Estimates are indicative and depend on your actual environment data.

Carbon impact estimate

Estimated cloud-related CO₂e based on your AWS usage and regional electricity grid intensity. Methodology is in active development — estimates are indicative.

EU governance observations

Cloud configuration observations relevant to GDPR data residency, NIS2 risk posture, and CSRD emissions reporting readiness.

Prioritized action plan

Recommended next steps ranked by cost saving, emissions impact, risk level, and implementation effort. Each action requires your explicit approval before anything runs.

Optional — paid phase

Approval-based optimization

After the free assessment, you can choose to proceed with a paid optimization phase. Actions execute only after you review and approve each one individually. Scope and pricing are agreed separately.

How the pilot works

Three stages. The free assessment comes first. You decide whether to proceed after seeing the report.

1
Free · Included

Read-only AWS assessment

You grant GreenPilot read-only access to your AWS account via a least-privilege IAM role. GreenPilot pulls usage, billing, and configuration data — no production resources are modified. The assessment typically completes within 5–10 business days of onboarding.

What you receive: A structured AWS Optimization Report covering cloud waste, savings estimates, carbon impact, governance observations, and a prioritized action plan. You can view a sample report using demo data.
2
Included

Report review and discussion

GreenPilot walks you through the report findings. You review the recommendations, ask questions, and decide which — if any — optimization actions you want to pursue. There is no obligation to proceed further.

The typical pilot evaluation window is 30 days from onboarding. Most organizations use this period to assess fit, validate the findings against their own data, and get internal alignment before deciding on next steps.
3
Optional · Paid phase

Approval-based optimization

If you decide to proceed, GreenPilot executes approved optimizations through controlled workflows. You review and approve each action individually before anything runs. No automated production changes occur without explicit sign-off. Scope and commercial terms are agreed separately before this phase begins.

What access is required

The free assessment requires read-only access to your AWS account. You configure and control the permissions. You can revoke access at any time.

IAM access model

  • Read-only IAM role — no write permissions are requested during the assessment phase
  • Least-privilege: scoped to the minimum permissions required to run the analysis
  • You create and control the IAM role in your own account
  • Access can be revoked at any time by deleting the role or removing the trust policy

What GreenPilot reads

  • AWS Cost Explorer and billing data
  • EC2 instance types, utilization, and scheduling
  • S3 bucket sizes and access patterns
  • RDS and EBS configuration and usage
  • CloudWatch metrics for utilization signals
  • Resource tags and region configuration

Data handling

What GreenPilot does not do

  • No production changes during the assessment phase
  • No access to application code, secrets, or credentials
  • No storage of your raw AWS billing data beyond what is needed for the report
  • No changes to IAM policies, security groups, or access controls
